Geographic Information Systems (GIS): The Geographic Information System (GIS) CAMPO manages is a collection of transportation related data undertaken collectively by CAMPO, Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and member jurisdictions. All of the GIS data is stored in the ArcView shape file format. ArcView is a commercial GIS software package published by Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) though there is a free downloadable viewer available from ESRI. All shape files are in the coordinate system: State Plane Central Texas, NAD 1983, US Feet. The two main pillars of CAMPO-authored GIS data are the 2030 Network and 2030 Demographics. The former includes information from the CAMPO Mobility 2030 Plan Roadway Table found in Section 5.1 of the 2030 Mobility Plan as well as future projected volumes. The 2030 Demographics shapefile created for our population and employment forecast divides the three counties into 1074 smaller geographic units each with their own population and employment fields for the years 1997, 2000, 2007, 2017 and 2030.
